T Cong leaders take different paths-MPs Feel Resignations No Use;Ministers To Wait And Watch

The Telangana Congress, which is fragmented into ministers,MPs,MLAs and T Congress monitoring group,on Monday failed to take a united stand in the wake of the onslaught from the TRS and TJAC to quit their posts with seven MPs deciding to resign from Lok Sabha while the ministers favouring a wait-andwatch policy. The T-MLAs are yet to meet on the issue. After a marathon meeting at the residence of Peddapalli MP G Vivekananda, parliament members, including Madhu Yaskhi Goud, Ponnam Prabhakar,S Rajaiah,M Jagannatham,Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy decided to resign, but in what appears to be a mere threat, want to send it to Congress president Sonia Gandhi rather than the Speaker.

Even though MPs such as Madhu Yaskhi and Ponnam Prabhakar expressed reservations on the utility of resignations, finally,it was unanimously decided to fax the letter to the party president. The resignation letter will be on the regular Lok Sabha format. They will be dispatched to the party president with a request to forward them to the Speaker in case there is no T decision in the next few days, Manda Jagannatham told TOI. The decision was taken in deference to the views expressed three days ago in a meeting called immediately after AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azads first statement which said that T-decision was not possible in a month as assured by home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. Finally, the decision to resign from the party was deferred. But the MPs said they would inform Sonia through a letter that it would be difficult for them to continue in the party in case T-state was delayed further.

Meanwhile, the T-ministers took a different path. They decided to wait and watch. After a long meeting at the chamber of panchayat raj minister K Jana Reddy in the Secretariat, they said they were confi-dent that Sonia Gandhi would take a positive decision on the T issue very soon.Talking to the media after the meeting,Jana Reddy made it clear that as they had lot of confidence in their high command and that there was no need to quit their posts. He,however, said they would quit and join people on the streets the moment T is denied. We still believe that Telangana will become a reality very soon. Our hopes will not be belied. In case we fail to convince the party leadership on the Telangana issue,we would not stop there. We will join the movement as per the wishes of the people, Jana Reddy said.
Jana Reddy was critical of TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao as well as former minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy for their useless talk and provocative statements. We need not attach importance to their utterances, he said.
