TRS readies new strategy for T-stir

The Kiran Kumar Reddy government seems to be in for trouble from within the Congress as well as from the TRS and Telangana political JAC leaders. With ample indication that Srikrishna Committee report will only spell out the pros and cons of both separate Telangana and united Andhra Pradesh scenarios, the TRS and T-political JAC on Sunday decided to launch agitations in three stages start, stir and reach to the peak. Speaking to media after a nearly seven-hour-long JAC meeting,TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao said that the agitational programme would begin with submitting a memoranda to all tehsildars in the Telangana districts on January 5 demanding that the Centre introduce a bill in the budget session of Parliament.

On January 10,the TRS and JAC members will hold dharnas in front of district collectorates. On the same day,KCR will lead a delegation of pro-T parties to New Delhi and submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The Telangana non-gazetted officers will also launch a pendown strike from January 15. This would be followed by a stir-up programme the launch of a non-cooperation movement from January 21.It would be marked by relay hunger strikes at government offices, colleges and court premises in all the districts till the Centre introduces a bill in Parliament.Rail and road roko will be part of this noncooperation movement.

Rao cautioned the T organisations and activists that this time they need to move ahead with a clear and cautious strategy. We should struggle and sacrifice our lives to the cause. We should confuse the enemy. We should not get confused in the process,he added.

T Cong leaders quit threat -Withdraw Cases Against Telangana Agitators,Paramilitary Forces Immediately
With the December 31 deadline for the submission of the report by the Srikrishna Committee just round the corner and pro-Telangana forces upping their ante,Congress leaders from the region, including MPs, MLAs and MLCs,not to be left out of the action, issued an ultimatum to the state government demanding an unconditional withdrawal of all cases registered against the agitators as well as the paramilitary forces deployed in the Telangana region by Sunday midnight.Ministers P Shankar Rao and K Jana Reddy even offered to resign if a separate state was not announced on Dec 31. Speaking to the media after a two-hour brainstorming meeting with elected representatives of the Congress from Telangana, CWC member and Rajya Sabha MP K Keshava Rao warned the Kiran Kumar Reddy government that the Congress MPs would begin an indefinite fast at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial near Control Room if the police cases were not withdrawn.

There is no need for them to teach us law.Police zulum must end. There is nothing like a minor case or major case.Do not test our patience. All cases across all regions must be lifted unconditionally. Our party alone will give Telangana and if indications are against the formation of the new state after Dec 31,we will send our resignations to the party high command. We are not sending resignations to the Speaker as our services may be needed for the Centre to pass the Telangana Bill during the budget session of Parliament. We want immediate introduction of the Telangana Bill during the budget session, he said. According to sources,Keshava Rao even said that the Telangana legislators would not hesitate to resign and bring down the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in case the cases were not withdrawn. At present,52 of the Congress MLAs in the assembly are from Telangana. Cautioning the CM against speaking the language of representatives from non-Telangana regions, Rao said,Our request to the CM made on Dec.20 for the withdrawal of all cases against students is still pending. Please,do not test our patience and force us to think of alternatives. What is the necessity for you to seek the help of paramilitary forces. Please, send back all of them to the barracks.

He said the Congress elected representatives (ministers,MPs,MLAs and MLCs) from Telangana would meet the chief minister on Monday in support of their demand for the release of all the agitators irrespective of the gravity of the case.

Congress missing in action - Chaos Prevails In Ruling Party With No Ground-Level Activity In State

With several anti-Congress activities taking centrestage in the state in recent times, the ruling party is facing a peculiar problem of missing out in action. The party has gone completely out of sight with no ground-level activity taking place both in Telangana and Seemandhra regions. And in fact, the party has become the prime target in many agitations taken up by its rival parties. The Seemandhra region, which has seen the domination of Congress rebel YS Jaganmohan Reddy for the past six months, has now become the hotbed of farmer politics under the leadership of TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu. Naidu, who called off his eight-day fast on Friday,is planning to take a whirlwind tour of Andhra region, starting from Guntur on December 30. Form January 3 onwards,YS Jagan will be reviving his Odarpu yatra from Visakhapatnam district,to be followed in other districts of the region, which is expected to be a Sonia-bashing programme.Later in February, the former Kadapa MP is set to launch his own political party with the sole aim of dethroning the Congress in the state.

On the other hand,in the Telangana region,Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and other similar outfits have been commanding the political activities and will have a firm grip after December 31 when the Justice Srikrishna Committee is expected to submit its report on the vexed T-issue. Interestingly, there is a complete lack of coordination between the party and Kiran Kumar Reddy government.During the past one week, when the government was in for allround attack by the TDP president Chandrababu Naidu and national leaders, the PCC was nowhere in sight to defend the government. Party sources admit that except meeting for floral tributes and some other routine party meetings in Gandhi Bhavan, there has been no political interaction between PCC president D Srinivas and chief minister Kiran in the past one month. In Seemandhra region, the ruling party has been virtually reduced to a minority, while in Telangana, the party will be at war with itself.Amid the Telangana movement, meant to mount pressure on the Union government to accede to their demand of forming a separate T state, the Congress has to struggle for survival in the absence of any clear stand on the T-issue.

The party MLAs and MPs are struggling hard to carve a room for themselves in the region. The party leaders, which includes ministers,MLAs,MLCs and MPs met in the city on Sunday to evolve a strategy. The pathetic situation of the party was the topic of discussion in a meeting held at the residence of Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao.Among the leaders present were K Jana Reddy,R Damodar Reddy,S Indrasain Reddy and B Kamalakar Rao.All the Congress leaders from the region will meet and discuss the partys strategy post-December 31.We want a joint action by all the political forces in the region, a senior leader told TOI. According to the leader,Congress wants to join the T-struggle as part of the one spearheaded by JACs.Its a tricky situation for the Congress. We told the people that only the ruling Congress party can achieve the separate T state. If we fail to do so,the party will stand exposed, admitted a leader.
