Jai Telangana slogan draws Sonia attention

New Delhi: The Congress leaders from Telangana finally succeeded in drawing Cong ress president
Sonia Gandhis attention towards the demand for separate Telangana on Monday, the final day of the three-day plenary session as they raised slogans like Jai Telangana and Sonia Gandhi zindabad. This incident took place when Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar was speaking at the session. While he was speaking,Telangana MPs,MLA and MLCs raised slogans like Jai Telangana,we want Telangana and Sonia Gandhi zindabad repeatedly till the a senior leader requested Prabhakar to wind up his speech. Prabhakar was the only MP from the state to get an opportunity to speak at the session. He  however, skirted the issue and confined himself to the issues of farmers and was eloquent about the able leadership of Sonia Gandhi.

Disappointed at their own MP not availing the opportunity at the AICC plenary, the leaders again raised slogans to draw the attention of the party president and other leaders on the dais towards the issue. MPs G Vivekananda,Madhu Yaski Goud,Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy,MLCs T Bhanuprasad Rao,S Indrasain Reddy,K Yadava Reddy, former MLC B Kamalakar Rao etc joined the chorus. However, there was no response either from the party president or the prime minister.Later, addressing the media, the Telangana leaders said every person in region is anxiously waiting for the party decision on Telangana.
It is high time that the Congress party leadership fulfilled its commitment given to the people of the region an year ago by the Union home minister P Chidambaram, they said.
