Buoyed by the success of TRS in the byelections, party president K Chandrasekhar Rao is all set to meet national leaders including ruling Congress leaders in New Delhi next week and attend the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament to explain the immediate need for bifurcation of state. During a meeting organised by KCR with newly-elected MLAs at Telangana Bhavan here on Sunday, the TRS leader was advised to make a strong appeal to all national parties and ruling Congress that peoples mandate in the byelection in which the TRS trounced other parties with huge majority clearly displayed the aspirations of Telangana people and hence this was the right time to raise the issue in the Lok Sabha. A senior TRS leader and MLA told TOI that the TRS leaders and MLAs are of the view that the issue should be raised in Parliament also because the Srikrishna Committee was conducting study on the T issue. Before the committee completes its study and prepares a report by December 31,TRS should highlight the mandate of the people and impress upon the Centre and the committee on the need for formation of Telangana. The defeat of the Congress was an indication that people will not tolerate politics of deceit by any political party on the Telangana issue.
Apart from talking about this issue to Congress leaders, TRS party chief during his meeting with leaders will explain that delay in formation of Telangana state could lead to many more instances of suicides by students. MP Vijayshanti will also accompany KCR during his meetings with central leaders.
