The party has just begun for TRS on a poaching spree - KCR Moves To Build Cadre By Attracting TDP & PRPs Telangana Base To His Fold

Defying the normal process of growth of a political outfit, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi championed  Telangana sentiment and has tasted success sans a dedicated cadre. Now,while celebrating its 10th year of existence, it wants to put together a real political party complete with dedicated cadre at grassroots level. Fresh from the resounding success in recent bypolls where it decimated all opponents, the TRS has embarked on a major drive to strengthen its numbers.While the party has some party workers in the north Telangana districts,it virtually has no cadre in the south Telangana districts of Nalgonda, R R, Khammam and Mahabubnagar. And now it wants to make this up by targeting the TDP. TRS leaders have drawn up a detailed plan to woo the TDP workers and district leaders into its fold so that it can galvanise action at the local level after December this year in case the creation of a separate state continues to remain elusive.

We have drawn up a detailed plan to woo the TDP rank and file.This includes attracting them by community,by caste,and profession.Already,many of the TDP leaders who have contested various elections and lost or not received the party tickets are showing interest to join the TRS.It is clear to them that TRS will continue to call the shots in Telangana.We will offer them tickets in the local body elections.By the next assembly polls in 2014,we want to ensure that the TDP and PRP are virtually nonexistent in the region, said a party leader. But this drive is a tacit admission by the TRS leadership that what contributed to their resounding success in the bypolls is an outpouring of the Telangana sentiment in which the people en masse voted for it.Our success was made possible only due to the mass mobilisation drive of the electorate by students organisations,lawyers,teachers and other groups. Now,we will build a cadre using this support base, said the leader.Analysts said that this was the right way to go for the party.Otherwise,the vote percentage and the number of seats that it wins in successive elections will fluctuate.This has actually been the case, a political analyst said.

This grand plan of the TRS to poach into the leadership and cadre of the TDP was made clear by none other than TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao.According to TRS sources,KCR told the party leaders that he has already spoken to TDP MLAs from the Velama community (to which KCR belongs ) including Vijayaramana Rao from Peddapalli,Hanumantha Rao from Medak,V Chandar Rao from Nalgonda and E Dayakar Rao from Warangal.KCR also claimed to have spoken to senior TDP leaders N Janardhan Reddy and Kadiam Srihari over phone and discussed the political developments in the region.

The TRS sources also claimed that their party chief urged Janardhan Reddy and Srihari to quit the TDP and join him in the struggle for separate state.It is time that all Telangana leaders united and fought to protect the rights of Telangana region,he apparently told them.But this claim was however denied by both these leaders.There is no question of us quitting the TDP and joining KCR, they said. But what KCR has made clear is that he is now the hunter and his former ally TDP is the prey.
