Forward movement on T after Eid: PC -T Leaders Speculate On Roadmap,Andhra On SRC

The UPA government continued to keep up the guessing game on the contentious Telangana issue with Union home minister P Chidambaram stating on Monday that a movement towards a decision on the separate state will happen after the Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid ) festival which is slated to be celebrated on November 7. At a press conference here,Chidambaram said that AICC general secretary incharge of AP affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad had conveyed to the Congress leaders from various regions in the state during his meetings with them that in view of the festival season, implying Diwali and Bakrid, there has been no movement forward on the Telangana issue. Movement towards a decision will take place immediately after Eidul-Zuha, the home minister said.
Chidambaram said this after he was asked by the media as to whether there has been any forward movement on the separate state issue and as to when the all-party meeting that he had hinted earlier would be held. The home minister as well as Azad had said that another meeting of the recognized political parties from the state, the third on the Telangana issue, would be held after his consultations with the Congress leaders from all the three regions on the issue. While the intra-party meetings have been completed, the all-party meeting is still to be convened.Apart from the Congress, the TDP,MIM and YSR Congress are still to spell out their stand on the vexed issue.

Chidambarams announcement on Monday had the political leaders from all the three region expectant that things will go forward in their respective favour.T leaders said that any announcement after Eid festival except chalking out a road map for the creation of the separate state will be unacceptable to the people of the region.Seemandhra leaders, meanwhile, expressed confidence that the UPA government will not take any hasty decision on the Telangana demand. At best,it can be the convening of an all-party meeting. When the Congress high command itself has said there was a need for consensus, how can the Centre announce a road map for dividing the state, said one leader.

Among the other possible announcements post-November 7 that are being speculated about is the constitution of a second states reorganization commission or the declaration of the stand of the Congress on the Telangana issue,a development that the TDP,MIM and YSR Congress are keenly awaiting before they can make up their minds.
