Reacting to speculations that Hyderabad would be made a Union Territory after bifurcation of the state,KCR said people of the region wanted Telangana, which was merged with united Andhra Pradesh on October 31,1956. He said that before the Hyderabad province was merged into the Union, five districts had gone to Marathwada and three to Karnataka. There is no alternative to the government, but to restore the same status and grant Telangana, which is a genuine and just demand of four crore people, he said.
Addressing a gathering during the joining of Telugu Desam Party rebel MLA Jogu Ramanna into TRS at a meeting held at a function hall here on Monday, KCR condemned chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddys comments that anti-social elements were involved in the ongoing movement for separate Telangana state. It was not proper on the part of the chief minister to make such remarks on a peaceful and democratic movement, he said.
Launching a scathing attack on Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana and National Mazdoor Union (NMU) president Mohammed for trying to spoil the Road Transport Corporation employees strike in support of Sakala Janula Samme,KCR said both the Andhra leaders are conspiring to break the strike. He advised the RTC employees from the region to form a new NMU for Telangana.
