3-day rail roko deferred - Guv In Delhi,CM Too Summoned;IT Bandh Threatened

Hyderabad: Fearing a backlash from people returning to the city from their native places after Dasara holidays, the Telangana political Joint Action Committee has deferred the three-day rail roko programme to Oct 12,from the earlier announced Oct 9.However,the T protesters vowed to continue with their agitation including threatening an IT bandh in the coming days until the separate state is created even as the Centre renewed its stance on Friday that Telangana cannot become a reality in the immediate future.
Governor E S L Narasimhan landed in New Delhi on Friday evening for talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,Congress president Sonia Gandhi and others on Saturday on the situation in the state.Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was also summoned by the high command and is taking the early morning flight to Delhi on Saturday. He will be accompanied by Deputy CM Damodar Raja Narasimha,PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana and former PCC chief D Srinivas.
Announcing the decision deferring the rail roko after a meeting of the TJAC steering committee on Friday,Telangana Political JAC chairman M Kodandaram said it was done as TJAC affiliates informed them that the previous rail blockade dates clashed with the proposed `maha dharna by employees in the city.
The JAC has rescheduled the rail-roko programme to Oct 12,13 and 14 as we have other programmes on these days. The JAC is planning a maha dharna in any of these days in the city and also a tour to Singareni mines.During Saturdays JAC meeting, the situation in the region will be reviewed and a schedule will be finalized after it is debated and discussed thoroughly. The agitation (Sakala Janula Samme) will continue until the Union government makes a categorical announcement on the formation of Telangana.Even if the state plans to use force,we will continue our rail roko programme and agitation peacefully. We appeal to the state government not to indulge in violence and implicate people in false cases, Kodandaram said.
Meanwhile,TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao who attended the meeting, said the change in rail roko schedule was part of their strategy, while other TJAC affiliates attributed it to their respective campaigning schedules for the Banswada by-election.As part of the intensification of the agitation, the T protesters are planning to disrupt sectors that have not been adversely affected by the ongoing unrest

Train passengers beaten up at Nalgonda

A tiff over a seat in the general compartment of Palnadu Express took a regional turn when a group from Nalgonda district thrashed two passengers from Guntur district.According to one of the victims,Y Ramesh of Bapatla, the trouble started when one youth blocked a seat in the bogie by putting a kerchief, which was resisted by other passengers. The youth, however, refused to budge. After some argument,Ramesh forcefully occupied the seat. When the youth tried to attack Ramesh, other passengers interfered and even scolded him.The youth reportedly called his friends over phone and told them that people from coastal region attacked him and asked them to come to Nalgonda station. When the train reached Nalgonda,at around 7pm,about 25 people, raising Telangana slogans, entered the general compartment and thrashed Ramesh and another person from Sattenapalle. The attackers reportedly warned the victims that people from coastal region would meet the same fate if they continue to harass Telangana people.Ramesh was on his way to Bapatla from Hyderabad.A visibly upset Ramesh refused to talk to the media about the incident.
