Srikrishna panel report may not please all,says Duggal- If Some Sections Not Satisfied,They Have Right To Express Views

Claiming that the Srikrishna committee will not submit a lame and please-all report on the contentious separate state issue,its secretary V K Duggal said on Thursday that its findings would be optimal and may not please all sections in the state. As per the mandate given to the committee and as per the terms of reference,we will seek,discuss and examine a range of solutions as a way forward for the resolution of the issue.However,if the report does not satisfy some sections,being a democratic country,they have a right to express their views.This may be through a peaceful agitation.If it is not,then the situation will be handled accordingly, Duggal told the media here.

At the press conference, Duggal vehemently denied that he had said in a Telugu TV channel interview earlier in the day that the committee was considering a proposal to declare Hyderabad a Union Territory. The TRS had immediately staged protests across the state against the alleged remark. Duggal, however, said he had merely nodded to a question whether the panel has received a representation to that effect.I never said that Hyderabad will be a UT.I had only said that the committee had taken note of all issues brought before us including the demand for Telangana,united AP and UT status for Hyderabad. Stating that the committee had appointed experts to study highly complex technical issues such as water resources and irrigation,power,growth of Hyderabad and its impact and implementation of 610 GO and public employment,Duggal said the committee will give its comments after the experts submit the reports by the end of this month.

Referring to the recent comments made by some organisations including the Telangana JAC and TRS that the Srikrishna panel was a useless committee,Justice Srikrishna,who was also present at the press conference,said in Telugu : Maa committee panikimalinadi,dikkumalinadi kaadu (my committee is not useless and directionless ).Centre ku manchi dikku chuupistundi (the committee will show a good direction to the Centre.)
