Andhra,T Congmen on collision course - Seemandhra Groups Seek Action Against T Leaders For Inciting Violence Among Students

In what appears to be a build up to a collision course with the political leaders of the Telangana region, Congress leaders from the Rayalaseema and Andhra regions want to register cases against a few prominent T leaders for whipping up regional tensions. A JAC meeting of advocates from Seemandhra has been convened in Anantapur on Tuesday and its only agenda is to study the options of slapping cases against TRS and Congress leaders from Telangana including K Chandrasekhar Rao and Nizamabad Congress MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud for fomenting social unrest, violence and divisions in the society. This is said to be in retaliation to the cases that were booked against Seemandhra MLAs and MPs in Hyderabad and Jagityal and other places at the behest of Telangana supporters on the charge that those who were championing the separate state cause were labelled by the Andhra leaders as traitors.

KCR is inciting violence and social unrest by giving a call for civil war after December.Congress MP Madhu Yaski said Andhra leaders became arrogant after consuming the water coming from Gandipet.Such kind of language should be dealt legally, said a Seemandhra MLA. After the Anantapur meeting ratifies the decision, the various activists in the Andhra-Ralayaseema districts would be directed to file cases against those trying to foment trouble in the state, the leaders claimed. Similarly,a meeting of Seemandhra MPs, MLAs and MLCs is scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on September 17 to take a stand on the situation in the state. The meeting will discuss the provocative stance taken not only by the TRS and but also by our own colleagues of wanting to boycott the AP Formation Day on November 1 and the demand for a separate PCC for the Telangana region, said a leader.

Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao said chief minister Rosiah should not hesitate to act against all those who were using such objectionable language. If cases are not booked against these leaders,an impression that there is no government in the state would gain strength. The chief minister should act immediately by booking cases against them in the interest of peaceful coexistence in the state, Rao told TOI. Kurnool Congress MLA T G Venkatesh took strong objection to the stand taken by his own party leaders from Telangana. They forget that they are in a democratic society where one cannot incite violence and social unrest. It seems an anti-Andhra animosity has gone into their heads, he remarked.

Even though an attempt is being made to counter the strategies of TRS and T-Congress,the Seemandhra movement suffers from several handicaps. The major one being that a strong section of the Congress owing allegiance to Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy are too preoccupied with the Odarpu yatra to counter the Telangana advocates.
