Governor queering T pitch: Yashki

New Delhi: Amid unrest in Telangana against the Srikrishna Committee report,Congress MP Madhu Yaskhi on Monday slammed state governor E S L Narasimhan for misleading the Centre with the motive to influence it against the demand for statehood. He warned that Raj Bhavans politics could play havoc with Congress chances in the state. He appears to be eager for Presidents rule in AP instead of helping restore political stability. He is overtly playing politics by meddling in day-to-day administration. He is sending factually incorrect reports to the Centre, Yaskhi told TOI.

While Congress brass had urged party T- MPs to desist from going to the media till the Centre took a stand on the sensitive issue, the pressure from the ground seems to be telling on them.Narasimhan is on top of their hitlist as there is a feeling in the Telangana camp that he is overreaching himself by using his background as the intelligence czar. The threat of Maoists gaining an upper hand is attributed to him.
Narasimhan was moved from Chhattisgarh,a Maoist den,to Hyderabad when the post-YSR agitation in the troubled region had the Centre at its wits end to deal with the fallout. There is police deployment in every nook of Osmania University and Telangana. Not a single Maoist has been arrested despite police having draconian powers and having searched every hostel over and over again. That nails the lie, the Nizamabad MP said, adding,They are raising the Maoist bogey to defame the movement.

The Srikrishna panel, which voted for united Andhra, led to heartbreak in the volatile region.Locating his demand in cold political logic,Yaskhi said Congress could win the region with 17 Lok Sabha seats by honouring its commitment of Dec 9,2009,while continuing to work on Andhra region,or risk losing the entire state. If we dont honour the promise, our fate would be like the bypolls (Congress lost all 12 MLAs to TRS in August), he said.He said the governor was fuelling the agitation with his words and actions. There was firing in OU.There are bandhs and protests everywhere and the governor said two days ago that AP was peaceful. Is this peace He said the governor had taken over the power to appoint university VCs when emotions were running high. But three universities in Telangana are still without VCs.Is this not the perpetuation of injustice for which the region is seeking statehood.
