FM calls CM,rebel T MPs to Delhi -To Discuss Fallout Of T Panel Report

With the contents of the Srikrishna Committee report about to be made public on Thursday,a tense Congress high command summoned chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and all party MPs from the state for a meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday afternoon. Sources said Kiran was earlier scheduled to leave Hyderabad for Delhi on Wednesday evening. However, following a directive from the high command, he is scheduled to take the early morning flight to the national capital.

All party MPs from both the Houses, too, have been asked to be in Delhi by Wednesday morning while governor Narasimhan will arrive in the evening, the sources told. The CM and the MPs are scheduled to meet Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee at 3 pm on Wednesday. The meeting with Pranab is meant to discuss the fall-out of the recommendations of the Srikrishna Committee report which is expected to be made public during the all-party meeting that Union home minister P Chidambaram will have with the political parties from AP in Delhi on January 6.

According to the sources, the Congress high command is concerned over the provocative statements being made by some Telangana leaders, especially the MPs,threatening to resign from the Lok Sabha if the issue of Telangana formation is put off indefinitely.

‘MPs firm on Telangana demand’

Acause of concern for the high command is that the T Congress leaders have been advocating a joint agitation in collaboration with all political parties such as the TRS,CPI and Telangana faction of the Telugu Desam Party after January 6.The meeting with Pranab in the presence of the CM is meant to caution the MPs against making such statements, AICC sources said. However,as of Tuesday evening, the T Congress MPs were unrelenting. If the Congress does not take part in the agitation in case Telangana does not happen immediately,we will not be able to move around in our constituencies. The people will attack our houses and properties and even resort to social boycott, Nagarkurnool MP M Jagannatham said. The MP added that he would explain the situation in the region to the Congress leadership in Delhi. There would not be any compromise on the separate Telangana state.Anything short of a separate state will not be accepted by the people of the region, he said. The Congress MPs are vehemently demanding the withdrawal of the paramilitary forces deployed from Hyderabad and other districts in Telangana. After the meeting with Pranab on Wednesday afternoon,Kiran Kumar as well as the party MPs will stay back in Delhi for the all-party meeting on Thursday. However,in between, the chief minister will make time to meet a few central ministers and seek relief for the farmers of the state. ==============================
TDP to stay away

Bowing to pressure from the Telangana party leaders, the TDP on Tuesday decided to boycott the all-party meeting summoned by Union home minister P Chidambaram in Delhi on January 6.TDP joins the TRS and BJP in skipping the meet. The TDP has also decided to form a Telangana wing of the party.

T storm averted in TDP -Naidu Falls In Line,Agrees To Constitute Separate T Wing

To counter the Operation Akarsh move launched by TRS and protect its rank and file from deserting the party,TDP is planning to constitute a Telangana wing within the party, which will conduct agitation in support of separate T state. The TDP leaders from the region have been demanding for a separate T wing for almost a year. The party suffered a big jolt on Monday following the decision of Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, who announced that he would quit the party and join the TRS soon. TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday held an emergency meeting with senior party leaders from the region including,N Janardhan Reddy,L Ramana,T Devender Goud,R Chandrasekhar Reddy and is said to have accepted the demand in principle. He is also learnt to have spoken to T MLAs on phone and told them that he had no objection to form Telangana TDP unit and reiterated that the party was not against separate state if Delhi decides so.It is for the Congress to take a decision,Naidu said.

Unfortunately, instead of targeting Congress party,TRS has been criticising TDP and trying to create confusion among the cadre. The TRS had connived with Congress party to cause damage to TDP and the rank and file should understand this game, Naidu reportedly told the T MLAs.The proposed unit will be given a free hand to organise agitations demanding separate T state,a senior leader said. Interestingly, Srinivas Reddy who came to Hyderabad in the morning did not meet Naidu. Reddy told that there was no change in his decision. I am convinced that TDP is not serious about separate T state. Personally, I have nothing against TDP/Naidu,who has provided me with several opportunities to grow politically. My problem is that the party has adopted a neutral stand on separate T state.TRS is the only party which has a single-point agenda on the issue. For political existence,it is necessary for me to honour the wishes of the cadre, he added.Reddy met KCR in the evening.KCR is understood to have invited him to join the separate T state movement.

Meanwhile,Choppadandi MLA Suddala Devaiah took a U-turn and announced that he was not quitting the TDP.Devaiah took this decision after a three-hour meeting with his party workers in Karimnagar. Over 70% of his followers strongly opposed the move to quit TDP.The difference of opinion even led to a clash between the two groups pushing Devaiah into a state of confusion. However, towards evening, Devaiah told media that he had decided to stay put in TDP.According to party sources, Kamareddy MLA Gampa Goverdhan from Nizamabad district is the only TDP MLA who may join TRS along with Pocharam Srinivas Reddy.Hanumanth Shinde, representing Jukkal constituency in Nizamabad district, met Naidu at the party office for over an hour on Tuesday and later said that he was not quitting TDP.

It now remains to be seen if it is just a storm in T-cup or a lull before the real storm.Though the party might have succeeded in curbing the sudden desertion of leaders,a section in the party still feels that at least eight more MLAs may decide to quit the party sooner than later.
