JAC takes T struggle to Gulf

Telangana JAC covenor M Kodandaram on Thursday embarked on a three-day tour of the Gulf to study the plight of Telangana workers there and organise meetings on the separate state issue. The JAC leader along with cultural wing secretary D Srinivas will visit United Arab Emirates,Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and will attend meetings organised at Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Riyadh and Kuwait. The objective of the meetings is to educate people about present political situation in the state and seek their support for Telangana movement in the wake of intensified struggle. "Dhoom Dhaam" (Telangana cultural program-mes) will also be organised in the cities to create awareness on Telangana culture. As part of the visit, Kodandaram will meet the workers who migrated to the Gulf countries for livelihood and study the problems being faced by them. They will submit memoranda to local governments seeking their help in providing employment and good wages to the migrants.Kodandaram said he will meet officials of Indian embassies to draw their attention to the problems faced by workers in the Gulf.

Alleging that state government failed to provide jobs to Gulf victims who returned to their villages after they were denied employment,Kodandaram said the JAC will compile the list of workers who are facing problems like denial of jobs, low wages and emigration related issues in the Gulf and will submit it to the state government. Kodandaram said his programme has been organised by Gulf Telangana JAC, formed by Telagnana NRI forum in cities where Telagnana people are more in number. The purpose of the meeting is to strengthen the voice of Telangana abroad. The Gulf Telangana JAC will organise meetings in the Gulf every six months to sensitise people on the need for a separate state, Kodandaram added.
