It will be civil war if T state is denied,KCR tells panel

TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday claimed to have told the Srikrishna Committee that any delay or reluctance on the part of the Centre in creating a separate state of Telangana after the committee submits its report may lead to a civil war. According to sources,Rao in his PowerPoint presentation explained how injustice was meted out to the Telangana region since the formation of Andhra Pradesh and why the T-movement had to be revived by his party. While exuding confidence that the committee will submit its report in favour of bifurcation of the state,Rao told the media in Delhi that if it does not happen, then the consequences would be different. Centre should respect the sentiments of Telangana people and accept their demand without any delay, he said. He said his party had submitted all reports and documents in support of their argument and he hoped that the committee will respect peoples sentiment by recommending bifurcation of the state. He said, he also raised the issue of violation of gentlemans agreement signed between Andhra and Telangana leaders before the merger of Hyderabad state with Andhra state in 1956,non- implementation of GO 610 and Mulki rules.

KCR said in his 2-hour presentation before the committee,he made it clear that the merger of Hyderabad with Andhra state was a conditional merger. But the successive governments flouted all agreements by not implementing them.He also dwelt at length on how irrigation, education, employment and power sectors were being ignored in Telangana region with statistical data. The TRS leader made the presentation on 10 topics including allocations to Telangana region for the past 55 years. The TRS which had a 5-hour meeting with the panel was told by the committee members that the party would be given another chance to present their case again in July.
