We will all quit at one go, says Kiran

Chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday hinted at a massive offensive by the Seemandhra lobby against the proposed division of the state which would be in the form of en masse resignations of all ministers including himself at an appropriate time. The CM made this disclosure to ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao,Erasu Pratap Reddy and Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy when they called on him during the day to request him to forward their resignations to Gov ESL Narasimhan for acceptance.

Earlier, Ganta and Erasu had met the governor to press for their resignations but the latter pleaded his helplessness saying that the resignations should come to him through the chief minister and advised them to meet Kiran Reddy. When we requested the CM to accept our resignations and forward them to the Gov, he advised us to wait for some time. He said we (Seemandhra ministers) will collectively take a decision at an appropriate time and that it would be in the form of en masse resignations. He told us that he is in touch with the party high command over the issue, said Infra and investments minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao. Kiran Kumar and PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana is expected to meet top party leaders including AK Antony on Tuesday, sources said. During 30-minute meeting, the ministers said Kiran Kumar assured them that he is making all-out efforts to stall the bifurcation of the state. He also told them that he is in touch with senior leaders over phone on a daily basis and submitting reports on the ongoing protests and dharnas in Seemandhra.

Farmers will suffer if state divided: CM
Later, speaking to some farmers from Anantapur, the CM once again reiterated his opposition to bifurcation. The division of AP is not good for farmers, particularly those from the Rayalaseema region. With the Tungabhadra flowing in from Karnataka, our (Rayalaseema) farmers are already facing hardships. If the state is divided, the water wars will only aggravate, he explained. These two developments heated up the political activity in the state on Monday. Earlier in the day, the much hyped resignations of a few Seemandhra ministers in the state cabinet ended up a flop show after the Gov told them that he cannot accept their resignations without a formal recommendation from CM.
