NDA could not divide AP due to my opposition -Naidu Launches Bus Yatra In Guntur; Meeting At Dachepalli Mandal Passes Off Peacefully

Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday claimed that the NDA government had never ventured to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh due to his opposition to any such move. During the NDA regime, TDP was clear in terms of its stand on keeping the state united for its overall development, he said. We were powerful during the NDA regime. As we were strong proponents of Samaikyandhra, the NDA government did not consider dividing the state, he pointed out. Chandrababu Naidu, who launched his bus yatra in Guntur district, said the then Union home minister LK Advani himself made it clear that Telangana could not be granted as the capital city, Hyderabad, is part of the T- region.

Admitting that the TDP had indeed given a letter for the formation of Telangana, Naidu, however, claimed that the letter does not endorse the injustice meted out to the people in Seemandhra. People in Telangana and Seemandhra regions had lived together like Ram-Lakshman during his regime, while the Congress has now made them fight like Vali-Sugreeva, he said. Taking a dig at his political rivals, Naidu said the Congress had ruined the state for the sake of gaining a few seats in the next elections. He also said that the Congress had conspired against both the Telugu people and the TDP with the active support extended by the YSRCP and the TRS. Extending moral support to the ongoing agitation in the Seemandhra region, Naidu fumed at the Centre for not intervening to allay the fears of the Seemandhra people despite them protesting for the last 31 days.

Contrary to expectations, Naidu was accorded a rousing reception at the Pondugula village of Dachepalli mandal of Gurazala Assembly constituency on Sunday. He kick-started his tour of the Seemandhra region notwithstanding the flak he received for giving the nod to the formation of Telangana. Although the turnout was not so overwhelming at Pondugula, TDP leaders heaved a sigh of relief when Naidus first public address was not disturbed by pro-Samaikyandhra activists.
The TDP local leaders had threatened that no one would return safely from Palnadu if they tried to obstruct the meetings of their party supremo, which, observers said seemed to have prevented the protesters from causing trouble. Naidu claimed that people from Seemandhra got attached with Hyderabad only after it was put on the fast track of development during his regime.

Naidu said the anguish of people of Seemandhra is completely justifiable and needs to be addressed. No one is coming forward to discuss and sort out the issue even as nearly five crore people have been agitating for the last 1month. No one in the government has behaved with any sense of responsibility, he said. Chandrababu Naidu said he never shied away from his responsibility even when he was in power. He said he went on padayatra for 3,000 km to understand the grievances of the people and therefore decided to be with people after seeing the agitation.

Showering praises on TDP founder NTR, Naidu said while NTR took the Telugu glory to Delhi darbar, it was he who spread the Telugu light across the globe. He alleged that the TRS was waiting for a suitable package for merger with the Congress and the YSRCP for bailing out its jailed president. Do you think that these parties would work for people, he asked. He appealed to people to teach the YSRCP a lesson.
