T note before Cabinet in 20 days: Shinde (T Process To Gather Speed After Sept.6)

New Delhi: Refusing to take cognizance of the 34-day agitation in the Seemandhra region against the bifurcation of the state, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said on Monday that the much awaited Telangana note will be placed before the Union cabinet in the next 20 days and that official process of bifurcation will begin soon after that. The note is under preparation. It is expected to come before the cabinet in twenty days. Before that, it will be sent to the law ministry for scrutiny, Shinde told the media when they sought clarity on the Telangana formation process.

According to Shinde, the delay was due to the ongoing Parliament session and that the process would gather momentum once the monsoon session concludes on September 6. Now,the Govt is busy with important parliamentary work such as food security bill etc. We will be able to concentrate on the T- process after September 6, he said. Coming as it did in the midst of agitations and dharnas against the division of the state in the Seemandhra region, the Telangana leaders see Shindes statement as an assurance that nothing will come in the way of the bifurcation of the state. Rest assured, the Congress will not go back on its Telangana announcement. It is following a 2 pronged strategy of going ahead on the T-path with preparation of the concerned bill, and attempting to tame the agitating ministers who are threatening to resign if the Centre goes ahead with the creation of Telangana state. It clearly demonstrates the firm will of the Union government on the creation of Telangana despite opposition, said a senior Congress leader.

According to the sources, the Congress wants to ensure that the new state is in place in all aspects by the end of this year or at the latest by January next. However, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is camping in Delhi,on Monday expressed his unhappiness over the 20-day deadline set by Shinde and said that he had expected that the cabinet note would have been cleared much earlier.
Meanwhile, the A K Antony committee, set up to address Seemandhra concerns over the bifurcation of the state, has again invited the Union ministers from two regions for another round of consultations here on Tuesday. Sources said the meeting would be the last one before 4 member panel concludes its hearing on the grievances from the region to the division of the state.
