JAC leaders warn DS of physical attacks

Threatening a repeat of Mahbubabad-type violence in Nizamabad district if PCC chief D Srinivas enters the fray for the Assembly bypoll, Osmania University Joint Action Committee leaders said they would not hesitate to resort to physical attacks if DS and other leaders try to file nomination papers.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, OU JAC leader Sardar Singh said leaders who would file nominations would be deemed as Telangana betrayers. He made it clear that their one-point agenda is to ensure the victory of 12 MLAs, who quit their posts in support of separate Telangana. The OU JAC students came here to canvass for former BJP MLA Y Laxminarayana in Nizamabad urban constituency. The students, divided into two teams, would tour Nizamabad urban and Yellareddy constituencies in the next 15 days. Meanwhile, opposing the decision taken by the private college managements that students would be roped in to campaign in favour of DS, local lawyers said they would approach the SHRC if any college encourages students to take part in election campaign.
