TRS MPs stage walkout over Telangana issue

The Telangana issue on Monday led to brief adjournment in the Lok Sabha with two TRS members staging a walkout for not being given adequate time to raise the matter. As soon as the House met for the day,TRS members K Chandrasekhar Rao and Vijayashanti walked into the well raising slogans for carving out a separate Telangana state. Speaker Meira Kumar took up the Question Hour but soon adjourned the House for 15 minutes and called the TRS members to her chamber. When the House reconvened, the TRS members again were in the well raising slogans. As this continued for a while, the Speaker allowed Rao to raise the matter briefly.

BJP veteran L K Advani remarked that the Speaker was setting a precedent.I am making an exception because a lady is involved and a member is in frail health. This should not be treated as a precedent, the Speaker said.Several members were heard saying that the matter should be raised during Zero Hour. The Speaker then said, there is a certain objection. It will be better if you raise in the Zero Hour.Say what you have to say in half-a-minute. Rao said the government had assured them in the House on the formation of a separate Telanagana state three years back and still nothing had happened. The Speaker said that he had raised the issue and will be given time during Zero Hour and called for continuation of the Question Hour.Rao and Vijayashanti later walked out of the House.

CM puts foot in the mouth- Apologises After Saying No Funds For Telangana

An enraged Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday put his foot in the mouth as he thundered at an equally livid Harish Rao during the noconfidence motion debate that the state government would not spare a single rupee for the Telangana region. The chief minister, whose outburst came in response to an angry assertion by the TRS MLA, later apologized and withdrew his statement,as did the latter.
It all started when Harish Rao,who initiated the debate on the noconfidence motion, enumerated the funds allotted to the various districts in order to buttress his charge that the Telangana region was being neglected.Listing an instance,Rao said that while the government had sanctioned Rs.7,395 crore for a drinking water scheme meant for the CMs home district Chittoor,Medak district was given only Rs.180 crore for a similar scheme. However,we could extract even these meagre funds only after seizing them by the collar, the MLA said.

It was this last statement that made Kiran Kumar flare up and lash out.Harish Rao has to mind his language. He is talking like a street rowdy.Make a note of it.I will not sanction a single rupee (for the Telangana region ).You do whatever you want, he said. The CMs outburst triggered uproar, with the pro-Telangana legislators led by TRS members rushing to the well of the House and demanding an apology. But an unfazed Kiran Kumar continued with his counter-attack : I was also born and brought up in Hyderabad.I am not the type to get bogged down by threats or flee out of fear. The Congress is the true representative of Telangana as we have more than 50 MLAs from the region, whereas the TRS has just 17.
Meanwhile, leaders vied among each other to be heard above the din.TRS floor leader Etela Rajender said that Telangana deserves its share in the devolution of funds because 70 per cent of the states revenue comes from its 10 districts. We the legislators are servants of the public and must not be arrogant and use words as used by the CM on the allocation of funds, he said.As the din continued, the Speaker said he would go through the House records and take a decision.
At this point,a more subdued CM apologized. What I meant to say was that I was not afraid of people like Harish Rao.My words were directed at him and never at Telangana or the separate state movement.Even then,if my words have hurt anybody,I will withdraw them. Following this,Harish Rao too said he would withdraw his remarks about seizing collars.
This was not the first fracas between the duo during the days debate. The two leaders had clashed earlier after the TRS MLA alleged that Seemandhra leaders had cornered all the plum posts in the government and state Congress. The very culture of the Congress is anti-Telangana.In its regime, all the plum posts, including those of chief minister and PCC president, are reserved for the Seemandhra people, he alleged.
Enraged by this,Kiran Kumar had intervened to say that he and his colleagues had come to power because of voters support and not due to favours by TRS leaders. The Congress is the party that made PV Narasimha Rao,a leader from Telangana, the Prime Minister, he said.Raos retort was quick. The Congress actually insulted PV by denying permission for his cremation in Delhi when all other former PMs were granted one, he said. Before the duel intensified, the Speaker had intervened and pacified the two leaders, allowing Harish Rao to continue his speech until peace was broken by the collar remark.

KCR to share dais with Modi;TRS may walk into NDA fold

Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is all set to join the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and,as a first step, its chief K Chandrasekhar Rao will address a public meeting along with BJP leader and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi in the Telangana region. Party sources said the TRS has no option but to join the NDA in view of the lack of commitment on the part of the Congress to the separate state demand. However, the TRS will join the NDA only if it gets a major say in the Telangana region besides the lions share of seats in the 2014 elections. The TRS is not averse to joining hands with any force including NDA in the interest of Telangana. The Congress has ditched us time and again, and it will be foolish to trust them. And as an alternative, one can look for a platform at the national level, including the NDA.However,we are particular about the TRS remaining the leading force in Telangana. As far as an electoral understanding is concerned,a final decision will be taken in the due course, Sircilla MLA K Taraka Rama Rao told STOI.

Sources said the Gujarat chief minister has already confirmed his visit to Hyderabad and the Telangana region.Modis visit is most likely to happen in the last week of March or the first week of April. And he will address one public meeting most likely in Hyderabad and tour the Telangana region, said the BJP sources. While KTR did not want to comment on Narendra Modis tour, sources in the TRS said KCR is likely to share the dais with the Gujarat chief minister and they will address a rally in any selected town in Telangana. We have invited Narendra Modi to tour the Telangana region as he is the best person to convey to the people that a separate state is a certainty if the NDA comes to power, said BJP state president G Kishan Reddy.

BJP plans Telangana Poru Yatra after Modis visit
The game plan of the NDA is to convey the message to the T people that a national party like BJP and a regional party that has been spearheading the separate state movement for the last decade and half could realize the aspirations of the people of the region. With the combination of Modi and KCR, the NDA should put up a good performance in the region, said the sources. Independent MLA Nagam Janardana Reddy too indicated that he would join the NDA.Nagam heads the Telangana Nagara Samithi. It is time all pro-Telangana forces got consolidated under the NDA umbrella, he said.

Following Modis visit, the local leaders will launch a Poru Yatra led by Kishan Reddy in T. And the pro-Telangana forces including the TRS, Telangana Political JAC, and Telangana Nagara Samithi (TNS) of Nagam are expected to support the Yatra. We are confident that Modi would be made the prime ministerial candidate shortly, and we are waiting for announcement. T movement would get a fillip once the leader of Modis stature champions the cause, said Kishan Reddy.
